Historically Africians were credited with the great expression – “The white man has the clock but has no time”. I’m not sure if that is the exact quote but you know what I mean. Since the advent of mobile phones we have almost stopped wearing wrist watches, ask anyone the time and watch them root in an oversized handbag or start patting their bodies to locate the mobile phone “lump”.
If you miss wearing a wrist watch and would like advice on a classic design you can’t go wrong with the Mondaine swiss watch. Based on the Swiss railway clock you’ll always have the feeling that it is on time. It’s affordable and you can check the prices HERE.
Designed in 1944 by Swiss railway engineer Hans Hilfiker read the history HERE.
Now after that unplanned commercial … this is what I actually want to post. The TikTok.
TikTok was the bronze wilnner of the 2011 International Design Excellence Awards.
TikTok transforms the iPod Nano into multitouch watches. TikTok is a simple snap-in design that allows the user to quickly and securely snap the iPod Nano in and out of the wrist dock. It was designed for those who want to easily transition from clip mode or watch mode. The LunaTik is a more permanent conversion kit for those wanting to transform their Nano into a bold technology statement.”
I’m glad that designers are trying to get ‘things’ back on the wrist. It will make life so much easier. The problem is the screen is too small but I’m sure someone somewhere is working on some invention to fix that. This is what the TikTok looks like.
