“The only star is you” is the tagline for a ‘hotel’ in Switzerland, a country that we normally associate with 5 stars. It’s an unusual hotel to say the least – located in one of the many abandoned bunkers in Switzerland, originally designed for a nuclear fallout. The hotel is called “Null Stern Hotel” (Zero Star Hotel) and it is the invention of the Swiss twin brothers and concept artists Frank and Patrik Riklin. It is located in Teufen in the Canton of Appenzell. When Swiss people makes jokes (trust me they do – I lived there in the 80’s) the Appenzellers are always the butt end, as a Kerryman I know what this feels like. But the Appenzellers and the Kerry people have a lot in common – they’re not as stoopid as they pretend to be. This zero star hotel was set up in 2009 and it costs $10 a night.
