One of my favourite blogs is Unhappy Hipster. It’s so simple – it takes interesting ultra modern images of architect’s work published in DWELL, the coolest architectural magazine, and invites people to comment on them. The comments are clever and highly entertaining – even though they poke fun at architects it’s just too funny to be cruel or mean and any architect I know has a highly developed sense of humour. Most of the images are of amazing house designs and interiors, Dwell’s tag line is “At home in the modern world”, Unhappy Hipster’s tagline is “Lonely in the modern world”. You will never be able to read Dwell again and keep a straight face.
Any architects in the audience?
The “Unhappy Hipster” or the “master copywriter” leaves the first comment, in this case it is: The ultimate unwanted-guest room.
Here is a selection of some of the other comments left on this image which was posted on April 6th 2011.
He had sorely missed his earlier days as a submarine deck hand; the port hole windows would be a later addition.
Everyone told him it wasn’t seasonal depression; it was a lack of windows in the house. He had to agree the day he looked out the roof hatch and discovered summer.
He heard rumours about creatures called “Surface Dwellers” so he decided to investigate for himself.
He was sure he’d put the framed portraits of Paul, Pablo and Kayleigh on the third floor … but the entire level seemed now to have vanished.
(you have to look closely to get this last one)

Valentina was hoping her father would focus on her so he wouldn’t notice her artwork on the hanging photos.
