Moby has released the music video for his latest single Lie Down in Darkness, featuring an old Russian cosmonaut looking back on his time in outer space. I just read a great article on wired.co.uk about the inspiration for making of the video.

The music video, directed by Luke Seomore and Joseph Bull was shot in London when Moby was in the UK in July 2011. Wired.co.uk had the chance to speak to him, and he described it as a “wistful, Tarkovsky-inspired video” that fed into his obsession with science fiction. He said: “When I made this video I realized that a good 50 or 60 percent of the music videos I’ve made have something to do with astronauts or outer space. I guess I’m basically a nerdy musician who wishes he was an astronaut.”

As music videos go this is literally wonderful and a cinematic joy to behold.
