When I was out shopping during the week I saw this packet of clothes pegs. We generally use ordinary, old-fashioned timber clothes pegs but breaking with tradition I bunged this packet of plastic Hurricane Clothes Pegs into the trolly. Living life dangerously – and all that. It’s only as I was hanging clothes out on the line this morning that I worked out why I broke with this ‘timber tradition’ and bought the non bio-degradable plastic ones. It was all in the name: HURRICANE. Of course I’m like anyone else – If I see a clothes peg for sale that is going to keep my t-shirt on the line in a hurricane – well that’s the clothes peg for me. (I hope I’ll never find out if they actually work in a hurricane.) In August 1986 Ireland got the tail end of Hurricane Charley so we might be due one soon – but my washing will be safe.
In advertising and branding and selling any product or service the name is very important. It is the association with high winds that made me buy something I normally wouldn’t. Raven Design have come some up with some good names in our time but Hurricane Clothes Pegs – now that’s pretty good.
