So you’ve just lost your job, do you think getting a “Lay-off Greeting Card” in the post would cheer you up? – not even a teeny weeny little bit?
“Though not available at every corner shop, layoff greeting cards are being manufactured by Hallmark and sold at its stores and online — and selling well”, said Frank Fernandez, owner of two Hallmark stores in North Texas.
“We’re in the emotional business,” said Fernandez. “You want to say something emotionally correct and give a card that you’ve chosen to express your own thoughts.”
One cover message reads “Don’t think of it as losing your job” – and on the inside it goes ” think of it as a time off between two stoopid bosses” However it’s more good news for Graphic Designers – as if these cards take off we will be the last to be fired.
