Clouds were once things that kept us in the shade which we don’t like very much in this part of the world. But since we have so many of them we like to think we can see all sorts of things in them… remember Hamlet and Polonius?

Hamlet: Do you see that cloud, that’s almost in shape like a camel?
Polonius: By the mass, and ‘t is like a camel, indeed.
Hamlet: Methinks, it is like a weasel.
Polonius: It is backed like a weasel.
Hamlet: Or, like a whale?
Polonius: Very like a whale.

A camel? a weasel? a whale? a shared data centre? “Cloud” is the new buzz word. When I first heard of Cloud Computing I remember asking someone who should know what it was exactly – and the answer… “How long have you got?”  when I said “as long as it takes” the reply was I haven’t got time for this right now – I’m just going into a meeting”. (read I haven’t a clue mate.)

Cloud Computing is: running your applications on a shared data centre – not in your office on your own system but in a remote location, where? yes on a cloud… kind of. How long do you have mate?

Now that you know everything about Cloud Computing I think you should own your very own cloud lamp.
