I love maps and I love looking at these maps and that’s why I posted them here. These are not  maps of rivers or roads or mountains – they might look a bit like fight routes for a large airline company but they track human connections or the linkages of our “friendships”.

Apart from their technical meaning which must be fascinating for some people – there is something beautiful about these images. If you think of the friends you have in other cities – is that thin electric blue thread the last facebook message you sent to Rio de Janeiro, Denver, Gachnang or Cooleanig?

For those of you who love the Geeky bits and the technical background bits – there is a link at the bottom of the post and you can read all about it.

I have a facebook page that I force myself to update/use every now and again. I’m not very good at it and I must remind myself to book a course on ‘What’s the difference between a Wall and a Poke’ in the future. What frightens me is, as my kids are fast becoming Facebookaholics will Facebook Anonymous (FA) be available when my kids need it. Right now they are light users –  with between 5 to 10 hours a day – but what happens when they have a serious addiction?
